The attention of all the Regional Joint Directors of School Education and District Educational Ofcers in the State is invited to the references cited where in the Government have informed that the National Hand loom Day, commemorated every year on August 7th, to marks the Swadeshi Movement, which was launched in 1905. It celebrates the skilled artisans and craftsmen dedicated to weaving intricate fabrics these are a source of pride for Nation. The aim of observing this day is to raise awareness about the hand loom industry's importance, support local weavers, and inspire younger generations to embrace our traditional textiles.
In this connection, all the Regional Joint Directors and District Educational Ofcers in the State are instructed to ensure that all Educational Institutions have to organize the National Hand loom Day celebration in all schools across Andhra Pradesh on August 7th 2023, by conducting Essay and Elocution Competitions on the theme of "Celebrating Indian Hand looms: Weaving Our Cultural Heritage.", which will provide a platform for students to express their thoughts on the importance of preserving hand loom traditions and execute this event successfully.
Further, they are informed to issue a circular to all educational institutions urging them to celebrate National Hand loom Day with enthusiasm and dedication. To make this celebration more meaningful, with the following activities that schools can organize:
I. Hand loom Attire Day: Encourage students, teachers, and staf to wear hand loom outfts on August 7th, demonstrating our appreciation for the artistry and craftsmanship of hand loom weavers.
II. Essay and Elocution Competitions: Organize essay and elocution competitions on the theme of "Celebrating Indian Hand looms: Weaving Our Cultural Heritage." This will provide a platform for students to express their thoughts on the importance of preserving our hand loom traditions.
III. Fashion Show: A show can be conducted showcasing various hand loom garments to foster an understanding of the diversity and beauty of our indigenous textiles. This event can be a captivating way to engage students and promote the use of Hand looms. This should be treated as “Most Urgent and Time Bound”
