Sub: School Ed'ucation - Mid-Day Meal Scheme - relief arrangements during disaster times, it will be the responsibility of the School Education Department - Instructions issued - Regarding.
All the District Educational Officers in the State are informed that as per the Ind ia Meteorological Department (I M O) the low-pressure area has strengthned into a depression early this morning. It is located over the South-East Bay of Bengal and expected to intensify further into a deep depression by ton ight and into a cyclone by tomorrwevening. It would move north-west towards the Andhra Praclesh du ring the subsequent three days. Met has said that rains would lash most places of Coastal And hra Pradesh with heavy to very heavy falls expected at isolated places from Saturday. The wind speeds would be' much stronger suggesting severe
cyclonic strength.
As directed by the ·Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andh ra Pradesh there is a dire and immediate need to take pre-cau tionary measures for the safety of the people especially school children. As a part of relief arrangemen ts during disaster times, it will be the responsibility of the School Ed uca tion Department to provide good quality hot cooked meal to the disaster affected people from the schoof MDM kitchens.
Therefore, all the District Educational Officers, especially Krishna, Guntur and West Godavari are requested to take following measures immediately:
1. Issue necessa ry instructions to the field level officials to gear u p to tackle the cyclone, \Vhich is expected to h it the region anytime.
2. Ensure that adequate stocks of requ ired material such as food grains, groceries, vegetables, condi men ts, eggs etc. are made available in schools for ready relief.
3. The children of. the school shall also be provided meals three times a day.
4. Ensuure that the l\1DM cooks and Cooking Age ncies are informed of the situation and attend the work without uncertainty.
5. Ensure that the buffer stock of rice is maintained. I f rice is not sufficient, then adjust from nearby schools or other sources like Pair price Shops.
6. Monitor the quality of meals being provided and take immediate measures for provid ing qualitative and quantitative meal is provided.
7. Daily meal supply details Mandal-wise and school-wise shall be collected and submitted to the District Collector.
8. Be in touch \Vi th District Collectors anci any un toward incidents or short supply of food grains shall be brought to the notice of the District Collectors and also pursue for immediate action.
9. Ensu re that the field officers'vould be attentive in all the cyclone prone areas till the situation gets normal ised.
10. Ensu re that the children are aware of areas, \vhere water has receded and school buildings are in dilapidated cond ition.
